Readers of all ages will be amused and educated as they read about how hot sauce came to Louisiana. This clever book is one that readers will want to read over and over because of the humor and rhythm. It's just downright FUN!
Our whole family loves this book! My 4th grader loves reading it and my 1st grader loves for me to read it to her. They enjoy the characters and dialogue so much! Every Louisiana family and especially every Louisiana teacher should read this book! I wish I had it in hard-cover. )
I read this book twice in school and loved it both times. I live only a little over an hour from where the story takes place so I really connected with the southern, cajun language. I can't wait to read this to my nephews ages 3 and 5. I hope they love it as much as I did!
Very cleverly written! My grandchildren, ages 10 and 8, ask me to read this to them quite often. They love how Boudreaux loses his temper every time someone gets his name wrong. As someone who lives in South Louisiana, I understand how commonly Cajun names get mispronounced. This story creatively intertwines 2 common annoyances--traveling salesmen, and getting your name mispronounced--to create a hilarious story about how hot sauce was invented.
